Nail Art|Christmas Edition Part VI

Wednesday 24 December 2014  at 12:12 pm
Afternoon!

I just went out with my mom to do a bit of last minute shopping since we haven't had much time to do anything and the traffic in the malls is insane! I don't know about anyone else but I personally loathe it when there are a lot of people in the shop, especially during the festive season. So while I was left to do shopping cart duty, the "Frozen" soundtrack started playing and then it really struck me that it was Christmas. For anyone that hasn't watched Frozen, watch it now and thank me later *laughs*. I apologize for the rushed posting but it's been hectic on my side and hopefully it'll start to get better soon. I hope you enjoy today's post and the last Christmas nail art design for the year.

Nail Art|Christmas Edition Part V

Tuesday 23 December 2014  at 7:28 am
Morning!

I hope everyone is having a joyous festive season so far (for those of you that celebrate Christmas) and for those that don't, I hope you are having a relaxing vacation so far! I remember last year this time I was preparing myself for trips on a cable car up Table Mountain, strawberry picking and a picnic at Spier. This year has been a bit sad and depressing with my grandfather in stage 5 renal failure and daily trips to the hospital and dialysis :(. So I hope everyone else is having a much better Christmas than me. I hope you enjoy this morning's post and to see the other nail art ideas in my Christmas edition series, click here, here, here and here.

Piercings|10-12 Month Mark with the Rook Piercing!

Saturday 20 December 2014  at 5:57 pm
Evening!

I'm trying to mull over in my mind how not to make this post boring, tedious and a general waste of time for anyone to read....since this will only interest readers that are A. interested in piercings and B. have a freshly pierced rook and are worried about what might be happening with that thick layer of cartilage. So, I shall start from the beginning (very briefly) and delve into the 10-12 month mark!

My rook was pierced sometime in February and as you can see I opted to not change my long barbell into the shorter barbell that the piercer suggested. So when anyone gets their rook pierced (I imagine) the piercer will advise that after 6 months the barbell should be changed for a shorter barbell to aid in healing and the overall "comfortableness" of having a rook piercing. Firstly, when the piercer says this, nod your head and say "uh huh" and never, ever, ever do it. I cannot stress enough and emphasize my words enough how detrimental this may be for your rook piercing. After 6 months your rook piercing will not be fully healed, it won't even be half-way healed. My rook still bled a bit after 6 months and was pink and irritable (like its owner) after 6 months. If I had changed my jewellery after the 6 month mark I'm sure I would of had to remove my rook piercing because of infection and poor cleaning.

Changing the earring to a small cuter one is, A. adorable and amazing and I can't wait to change my jewellery and B. impractical, especially after the 6 month period. Since the earring is shorter and there's not much room to try and clean with a piece of cotton wool or a clean earbud soaked in saline solution, it will get infected easily.

I am now at my in-between stage of 11-12 months and I'm still hesitant at this stage to change my earring to something shorter. I don't clean my rook piercing as regularly because I'm kinda in the clear now (the earring is not gong to get rejected and any infection that might occur can be easily treated with antibiotics without having to permanently loose my rook piercing). I'm in no way saying that after the 10-12 month mark you shouldn't clean it regularly it all depends on your healing time and everyone has a different pace at which their cartilage will heal.  At one point I searched for "yellow crusty build up in rook piercing" or something like that because I thought I had an infection in my rook. Which is why I'm saying don't take my word for not cleaning it regularly, rook piercings on the whole like to be cleaned and taken care of like a well groomed cat.

I occasionally get tenderness in the area of my rook but nothing like a good clean fixes the problem straight away. If you suspect that you might have an infection in your rook piercing, I suggest going to see your piercer, which is a must and taking note of a few signs. Does the fluid smell? Is it green/brown/any weird color that shouldn't be secreted? Is your ear red/pink/looks irritable and agitated? And is it hot to the touch? If you are out of the 6 month period or in the 4-5 month period and you have any of these signs, don't fret your rook piercing can be saved without having to be permanently removed. What works for me is to clean it twice a day for a week and if the pain doesn't subside by then, drop by the piercer.

I hope these were some helpful tips and that it wasn't too long or tedious!
Till we meet again!
Bye Bye!

Ideas|Christmas Gift Ideas for that special man in your life!

Thursday 18 December 2014  at 9:54 am
Good Morning!

I apologize for the lack of posts, I would have had this post up sooner if I hadn't caught a cold (the sneezing, coughing and hacking are killing me!) and I've been visiting my grandfather in the ICU for the past two days. Which has also taken its toll on me. With that being said, here is the "manly" edition to my Christmas gift ideas! I hope this gives you some ideas as to what to buy for your manly friend/boyfriend! :)

Ideas|Christmas Gift Ideas (For that special lady friend/Girlfriend)

Friday 12 December 2014  at 12:32 pm
Afternoon!

So I'm probably late on the "gifting ideas" which everyone seems to post early in December....except me. I usually tend to buy gifts for loved ones in the last week leading up to Christmas because I don't like keeping gifts for a long time in my house (is that weird?). On that note I have a few gift ideas that hopefully might give everyone some inspiration on their conquest during gift shopping!

All these items are from Forerver New because 1. I'm in love with Forever New and it's a store that anyone with any budget can purchase from (especially a student) and 2. their items are fashion forward and trendy. Ofcourse these items might not be to everyone's liking, but for guys/girls trying to pick out gifts for their friends/significant other the safest things to go for would be bags, a cute phone case, a notebook if she's a super organized person or a wallet. You want to stick with items that are neutral and don't steer towards clothes unless they have personally given you their dress/jean size!

Review|Revlon Color Moisture Stain in Milan Moment & Cannes Crush!

Wednesday 10 December 2014  at 10:57 pm
Evening!

For anyone that follows me on Google+ which has now become my version of instagram for the time being (you'll know what I mean when you see my feed on Google+) you would have probably guessed why my posts have been delayed a bit....once again. It's that time of the year where I set my dial to super slow and relax to the fullest! I won't lie but it's a bit difficult for me to relax when I've been on hyper drive for the past 11 months! But setting that aside, Revlon's color moisture stain has recently been launched down here in S.A. I'm not a fan of lip glosses because of bad experiences in the past. Lip glosses have always either been too sheer or so sticky that it feels like honey is dripping off my lips (eek!). On that note, wanna know how Revlon's color moisture stain fairs in my books? Read on for more!

Review|L'Oreal's Volume Million Lashes Excess!

Monday 1 December 2014  at 6:18 pm
Good Afternoon!

So all you lovely readers know (well hopefully know) that I am a skimper when it comes to make-up and the only mascara that I have tried in my make-up lifetime is Clinique's high impact mascara. Which left me with a huge amount of doubt as to whether or not I would ever apply mascara ever again. With that being said, I bring forth L'Oreal's amazing volume million lashes which just about gives me that fake eyelash look (which I love) and opens up my eyes, leaving me looking awake when I feel like death! I hope you enjoy this afternoon's post :)
You know what to do
